The Data Conversion Process

  • Your Account Manager will review the conversion process, needs and requirements.
  • You will be given a schedule of events with specific dates and tasks, some of which are to be completed by our conversion team, and others will need to be completed by your office staff. These dates are critical to the success of your conversion. Failure to meet these dates may force us to need to reschedule training dates as well as pass along resulting additional costs to you.
  • You will be requested to send Henry Schein Practice Solutions a data backup from your system for test conversion purposes. The data can be provided via tape or uploaded to our secure ftp site.
  • To ensure the best possible results, Henry Schein Practice Solutions will perform your data conversion at least twice. The first data conversion is done to test our conversion routines with your data and to make the final conversion – performed just days prior to the beginning of your training – predictable and reliable.
  • The "test" conversion process will begin prior to the first day of on-site training. When we have completed the test, we will send you a document detailing the results of the test conversion. This document will require your review and approval.
  • The "live" conversion process will begin approximately three (3) days (depending on database size) before the first day of live on-site staff training, you will be asked to once again send us your data, using the same method that was used in the “test” phase.
  • The evening before the first day of live on-site staff training, the conversion team will deliver the converted database to you.

It is important that you pay careful attention to our hardware specifications (PDF). Installing Henry Schein Practice Solutions under standards below those we have designed the program for, will result in either poor performance or instability of your computers and network. Hardware should be purchased from a quality minded, local vendor. We will work with anyone you select. A word of caution: Computer hardware is a buyers market today. We caution you, however, to consider that all hardware is not of the same quality. Many of the commercially available computers are not of sufficient quality or reliability to run your office. Often these companies can offer you systems with great specifications for unbelievable prices; the problem is -- like with everything else -- you get what you pay for. Many of these systems are able to be sold inexpensively to unsuspecting buyers who believe that all computers with equal specifications are equal in quality. Remember that the goal is not necessarily to save a couple of hundred dollars but for the systems you buy to service your office rapidly and reliably; down time will quickly eliminate the price points you achieved in buying cheap hardware.
